| The palace was originally built in 1865 for the Queen's favorite handmaiden and was later refurbished as a royal guest house and a hunting lodge and became home to the Jaipur royal family to the year 1957, when maharajah Sawai Man Singh II converted the royal palace into a hotel. Today under the internationally acclaimed Taj group of hotels the palace has become known as the 'Taj Rambagh Palace'. The Royal Hotel stands proudly at the Bhawanai Singh Road in Jaipur, approximately 11 km from the airport and 4 km from the railway station.
